I just think this is so harmonically beautiful:
Lyrically, of course, it doesn’t focus on the merriest part of the Christmas story. As a rule, carols tend not to focus on the whole baby-slaying thing – but it’s nice to give Herod a shout out, isn’t it?
This is at the opposite end of the “enjoying a capella singing” spectrum to yesterday’s Straight No Chaser festivities, but the attraction’s much the same. Magical, beautiful harmonies, sung with gusto.
Really brilliant singers are just amazing, aren’t they? Sometimes the most fantastic orchestration on offer is just no match for super-talented vocal groups.
And if we’re talking about brilliant a capella, it would be rude not to mention Pentantonix really, wouldn’t it?
Merry merry merry merry Christmas! Merry merry merry merry Christmas!
